I have loved cooking since I was a little girl. Mom was kind enough to invite me into her kitchen at a very early age and teach me how to prepare great meals for our family. As the years went by, cooking became one of my favorite hobbies. I checked out huge stacks of cookbooks from the library, collected recipes from friends, and watched the Food Network channel every chance I got. Eventually, I had a pretty formidable recipe collection of my own. Friends and family began asking me for recipes instead of the other way around. I’ve been asked, “May I have that recipe, please?” so many times that a few years ago, I decided to put them all into one cookbook. Years of editing, testing, re-testing, and more editing followed until I despaired of ever finishing Pure and Simple.
But at long last, it is ready.

You’ll find plenty of recipes for traditionally packaged foods (muffins, sandwich bread, pancakes, brownies, cookies, tortillas) in this cookbook. Contrary to popular belief, cooking from scratch is easy and fun – and once you get used to it, it doesn’t take much longer than opening a box. There are recipes for everything from Gumbo to Peppermint Bark to Chicken Parmesan to Chocolate Spice Cake.
